Armijska komanda ponovno je stvorena u vezi s preseljenjem komande 20.
gardijske kombinirane armije na granicu s Ukrajinom. Stvaranje armije
olakšalo je upravljanje jedinicama i formacijama stacioniranim u blizini
Moskve, što je ranije izazivalo poteškoće zbog činjenice da se sjedište
Zapadnog vojnog okruga nalazilo u Sankt Peterburgu. Novoj vojnoj
formaciji prve su pristupile 4. gardijska tenkovska i 2. gardijska
motorizirana streljačka divizija. |

The 1st Guards Tank Army (1-я
гвардейская танковая Краснознамённая армия)
was recreated on November 13, 2014 in accordance with the Decree of the
President of the Russian Federation. The army administration was
recreated in connection with the relocation of the administration of the
20th Guards Combined Arms Army to the border with Ukraine. The creation
of the Army facilitated the management of units and formations stationed
near Moscow, which had previously caused difficulties due to the fact
that the headquarters of the Western Military District was located in
St. Petersburg. The 4th Guards Tank and 2nd Guards Motorized Rifle
Divisions were the first to join the new military association. |

In 1994, the 20th Guards Army, which was part of the Western Group of
Forces, was withdrawn from Germany and transformed into the 20th Guards
Army Corps. In 1998, a combined arms army was formed from the corps. The
army headquarters was located in Voronezh for 19 years, after which it
was transferred to the Nizhny Novgorod region, the village of Mulino
(2010-2015). In 2015, the headquarters was relocated back to Voronezh
due to the increased strategic importance of this region on the border
with Ukraine. The former name was returned to the unit - the 20th Guards
