The "helicopter pilot training squadron" was founded on March 8, 1996,
after the need for training helicopter pilots within the HRZ was
identified. It operated at the Lučko airbase (Zagreb) and was equipped

The squadron's emblem is an owl, from which the motto of this unit can
be read. The owl symbolizes wisdom and knowledge, and these are
precisely the qualities that members of the Helicopter Squadron must
have and that they should be able to pass on to the new generations of
pilots that they are training. |

popunjavanjem eskadrile avionima. Tako su 1997. nabavljeni avioni
CL-415, a zatim i avioni Air Tractor AT-802F. |
The 855th Fire Fighter Squadron was established in 1994 by leasing two
Canadair CL-215 aircraft from Bombardier Aerospace. In 1995, the
Republic of Croatia purchased two Canadair CL-215 aircraft, and in 1997,
the first Bombardier CL-415. Over time, the CL-415 fleet grew to 6
aircraft, the last of which was delivered in 2009. The squadron also
includes Airtractor AT-802 and Airtractor AT-802 Fire Boss planes. The
mission of the 855th firefighting squadron is to defend against fires in
open areas on the territory of the Republic of Croatia, and since 2007
