Za razliku od velikog broja drugih država u Izraelskoj vojsci činovi u svim rodovima imaju iste nazive, razlika je samo u boji činova ili materijalu. Oficiri nose činove na ramenima, a podoficiri na rukavima. U avijaciji su činovi srebreni (bijeli) na crnoj podlozi, mornarica ima zlatne (žute) na crnoj podlozi, dok u Kopnenoj vojsci poručnici imaju tamno-zlatne činove na maslinastozelenoj  podlozi. Kod vojnika i podoficira KoV ima zelene, avijacija plave, a mornarica zlatne.

      In the IDF, the same ranks are used throughout the military, including the Israeli Air Force and Israeli Navy. This contrasts with many other armed forced that have a separate rank system for different branches. Enlisted insignia are worn on the arm sleeves while officer insignia are worn on the shoulders.  Officer insignia are silver with a dark blue background in the air force and gold with a black background in the navy. In the army, both lieutenant ranks usually have the blackish-gold ranks with an olive-green background until promoted to the rank of captain. Enlisted ranks are green in the army, blue in the air force, and golden in the navy.

WARRANT OFFICERS  OFICIRI SPECIJALISTI

      Warrant officer (WO),  časnik specijalista koji se imenuje na temelju izvršnog naloga (warrant) (npr. u SAD-u Tajnika Američkog KoV-a). Visoko kvalificirani tehničar tako visoko specijaliziranog znanja da zaslužuje časnički čin bez općih zapovjednih odgovornosti koje se obično dodjeljuju potpisanim časnicima. On je ispod poručnika (lieutenant) ali iznad ranga kadeta (cadet) i svih dočasnika. Odabire ih se iz dočasničkih činova. On ima sva društvena prava časnika ali nema nikakva zapovjedna prava.

      Za dočasničke (podoficirske) činove se koriste dva izraza, općeniti u hebrejskom jeziku Naged što se prevodi kao dočasnik (podoficir) ili Mashak što je naziv za narednike i kaplare koji imaju komandne dužnosti i doslovno prevedeno znači "komandir koji nije oficir".

      Non-commissioned officer ranks listed here correspond to the Hebrew Nagad ranks, a word that translates as 'non-commissioned officer'. Corporals and sergeants however who are commanders are called Mashak, an abbreviation that translates literally 'a commander who is not an officer'.

      U borbenim se jedinicama tradicionalno, ne nosi kaplarski čin, to znači da ne nose činove sve dok ih se ne promovira u narednika (Sergeant).

      Combat units traditionally don't wear the Corporal rank, remaining without insignia until they are promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

PRIVATE 1st CLASS  RAZVODNIK  (טוראי ראשון (טר"ש Turái rishón (Tarásh)

      Od 1999. se više ne koristi čin razvodnika (direktan prijevod je vojnik prve klase). Ovaj se čin nosio 10 mjeseci (formalno 8, a u nekim slučajevima samo 4 mjeseca), do stjecanja čina kaplara.

      The rank of Private First Class was until 1999 and is no longer in use. Privates retains their rank until promoted to Corporal, after 10 months of service (formerly 8), or in some cases 4.

PRIVATE (& RECRUIT) NO RANK   NOVAK (REGRUT)  NEMA ČINA טוראי Turái  &  טירון  Tirón

     Upon enlistment to military service in Israel, all soldiers begin a basic training course, undergo several days or weeks of 'integration', where drill instructors "convert" them from citizens to soldiers. This course is called recruit training or Tironut and the soldier being trained on this course is called a recruit (Private E-1 or Tiron), which is often erroneously interpreted as a rank, similar to the American Private E-1. There is no such rank and Tironim (recruits) are ranked Turai (Private).
